John D Bledsoe

Bledsoe, 57, a resident of New Castle passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born November 24, 1959 in New Castle to William Ray and Dorothy Jean (McMillan) Bledsoe.A 1979 graduate of Chrysler High School, he attended Vincennes and Ball State Universities. John was a lifelong resident of New Castle, except for one year when he lived in Georgia. He was a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Knightstown and was awarded “Volunteer of the Year in Ministry” at the New Castle State Prison. During high school, John received several trophies and awards in track, Karate, bowling and target shooting. He was involved in scouting, playing musical instruments and working on computers. John also enjoyed teaching the Bible and using the prophetic gift among other Christian activities. His hobbies also included going to gun shows and enjoying the peace, quiet and relaxation at his parents’ house.In addition to his parents, John is survived by his wife: Mary B. (Durbin) Bledsoe, whom he married June 6, 1992; four step-children: Lori-May, Janette, David and Ann Clark, all of New Castle; a sister: Cathy (Dennis) Dobbs of New Castle; a brother: Robert (Elyse) Bledsoe of Florida; nieces and nephews: Joshua and Hannah Dobbs, both of New Castle, Cory, Lauren and Jeremy Bledsoe, all of Florida.He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an older brother: Michael Bledsoe.Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be given to Christ Fellowship Church, 4833 State Road 109, Knightstown, IN 46148.You may express condolences or share a memory of John at www.hinsey-brown.com.
